Baldwin Images is the site of photographer and filmmaker Robert Baldwin. His passion for photography and cinematography began in his early teens. He earned his collage degrees in Mass Communication, Photography and Film from Loyola University.

He's spent much of his career traveling the world on editorial assignments, most notably for National Geographic, as well as on international commercial projects for a broad spectrum of clients such as Bacardi, and their huge portfolio of worldwide brands.

With cameras in hand, Robert is equally comfortable shooting underwater, on land or in the air. These days he spends much of his time with his feet off the ground as both pilot and shooter aboard a new, custom aerial film platform he developed with National Geographic. The system, LightFlight, offers a whole new spectrum of unique aerial perspectives that are not possible from traditional aircraft.

And he should know. Aviation has also been his passion since a very early age. Robert soloed his first fixed-wing aircraft at fourteen and earned his private pilots license the day before he received his license to drive a car. He holds single, multi-engine, land and seaplane ratings in addition to his training in helicopters and a variety of ultralight aircraft.

He also spent much of his earlier years as a commercial skydiving instructor/shooter and was a test jumper/pilot on the Para-Plane, the original ram-air canopy (developed by Cornell University) and the predecessor to the skydiving and paragliding canopies in ubiquitous use today around the world. The Para-Plane's revolutionary ram-air technology is the evolutionary granddaddy to the LightFlight system he is flying and shooting from today.

Based in South Florida near Miami, Robert still pursues his joint passions of four decades with vigor and enthusiasm. When not on assignments, Robert is spending much of his time shooting a new "aerial portrait" collection of icon images called Higher Perspective. He is still and forever seeking the perfect... yet elusive image.

About Higher Perspective

Higher Perspective is a portfolio of "aerial portraits" of prominent image icons. They are captured from a unique system developed for National Geographic assignments that allows for perspectives that not possible with conventional aircraft. Some of the aerial imagery is available for licensing.
